The story of our workshop
It all started with a simple desire: to do things with care and to offer something authentic. In 2014, we arrived in Romania, coming from the south of France – from the “pink city”, where life tastes like dry wine and good cheese. When we arrived here, we didn’t know what to expect.
But we discovered a country full of sincere, hardworking and warm people, with a spirit of hospitality. It was impossible not to get attached to this authenticity. Since then, Romania has become our home.
Why don’t we do mass production?
From the beginning we decided that we would not do mass production. We do not find ourselves in the idea of doing “quickly and a lot”. We believe that a pair of shoes should be the result of a conversation between the one who wears it and the one who creates it. That is why we work only with natural leather and make everything to order, to meet the needs and personality of each client.
Respect for craft and people
It is a work that requires patience, but also respect. Respect for the material – for the leather that has life, for the texture, for the detail. Respect for time – for each stage of the process. And, above all, respect for the person who will wear what we have made with our hands.
Each pair tells a story
Every model that leaves the workshop bears our imprint. Not just the technical imprint, but also the human one. Sometimes, when we hold a finished pair in our hands, we remember the moment when the customer first came, hesitant, trying to imagine what the final product would look like. And her smile upon delivery is the most sincere reward for our work.
The workshop that grew without losing its soul
Over the years, our workshop has grown, but it has not lost its soul. We remain a small team, a family working side by side. Every day brings a new challenge – a new shape, a new color, a new story. Sometimes it’s hard, but we never think of giving up. Because here, in the workshop, it’s not just about shoes. It’s about people, about passion, about the dignity of work done with respect.
The craft step by step
I have learned that in life, things that last are built slowly. And so it is in our workshop: each model is born step by step. We choose the leather, we cut it, we sew it, we finish it, we check it. Everything passes through our hands. There is no machine that can replace the careful look or the feeling you have when you know you have done something good.
The Promise Disapproved
Deprobat is, in essence, a promise: that of not compromising. We do not follow trends, but we seek authenticity. We are not interested in producing a lot, but in producing well. And above all, to maintain that sincere connection between the workshop and the client – a relationship based on trust and respect.
Romania – home by choice
After so many years, when we look back, we realize that every step had its purpose. Romania offered us a new life, a community and friends who made us feel at home. We may sometimes miss the wine and cheese of the south of France, but we found something more valuable here: the feeling that our work matters.
